about

KING SOL : experimental / neo soul / future r&b

KING SOL is a 1st person narrative take based on The Message translation of the poetic scriptures from the passages of the Song of Solomon…set to swoon inducing soundtracks. This project is meant to marry the ancient, epic, and infamous love poems to modern/futurist soundscapes in an exciting and perhaps controversial way with the intent of challenging, inspiring, and entertaining the listener. It is with high hopes, deep prayers, & sincere intent that you enjoy these new creations with your heart, soul, and mind.

Track Name: Full On
I'm going kiss you full on the mouth

My love is better than wine
headier than your aromatic oils
The syllables of my name murmur like a meadow brook
No wonder everyone loves to say my name

I'm going kiss you full on the mouth

I'll take you away with me...we'll run off together
An elopement with your King-Lover
We’ll celebrate & make great music my love is better than vintage wine
Everyone loves me—of course! And why not?

I'm going kiss you full on the mouth
Track Name: Tell Me Where You're Working
You are weathered but still elegant,
oh, dear sisters in Jerusalem,
Weather-darkened like Kedar desert tents,
time-softened like my temple hangings.

Tell me where you’re working
—I love you so much—

I won’t look down on you because you're dark,
darkened by the sun’s harsh rays.
Your brothers ridiculed you...sent you to work.
You had no time to care for your own face.

Tell me where you’re working
—I love you so much—
Track Name: Making Jewelry
If you can’t find me, loveliest of all women,
it’s all right. Stay with your flocks.
Lead your lambs to that good pasture.
Stay with your shepherd neighbors.

I’m making jewelry for you, gold and silver jewelry

You remind me of Pharaoh’s
well-groomed and satiny mares.
Pendant earrings line the elegance of your cheeks;
strands of jewels illumine the curve of your throat.

I’m making jewelry for you, gold and silver jewelry
I’m making jewelry for you, that will mark and accent your beauty.
Track Name: Like Doves
When your King lover lay down beside you,
your fragrance filled the room.
My head rest between my breasts—
my head was a sachet of sweet myrrh.

You, my dear friend! You’re so beautiful! My love.
And your eyes so beautiful—like doves!

Tell me I am so handsome!
And the bed we share is like a forest glen.
We enjoy a canopy of cedars
enclosed by cypresses, fragrant and green.

You, my dear friend! You’re so beautiful! My love.
And your eyes so beautiful—like doves!
